Every year 21st of March is celebrated as the World Down Syndrome Day. The theme for this year was ‘My voice, My community’ and for the first time Jigme Namgyel Engineering College observed the day with an initiative from Ability Bhutan Society.
The day started with an awareness talk by the President, (Dr.) Andu Dukpa and showcase of video composed by JNEC Media club and a brief talk by JNEC Y-Peer member. The talks highlighted on the importance of the day and also mentioned about providing equal opportunity as well as facilities for the people with Down syndrome.
Further the student members from the club also went around the community to spread the same message and making the voice of the Down syndrome to be heard and make their lives comfortable.
