On 27th October with the inauguration of Bachelor Engineering in Power Engineering at Jigme Namgyel Engineering College (JNEC), the College also had a Book Fair mainly to mark the ‘reading year’ and celebrate the 60th Birth anniversary of His Majesty Jigme Singye Wangchuck with the community in the vicinity.
The books were of diverse genres that can be read by any age group. There were books on fiction, non-fiction, mystery, fantasy, science fiction, romance, thriller, motivation, self-empowered and courses related textbooks. Many Students from JNEC bought books related to their course and some of the best selling romantic novels.
The books were all sold at 8-10% discount from the market price by Unique Books from Guwahati. The team from Unique Books shared that their brothers are celebrating the 60th Birth anniversary of fourth king and they should join in rejoicing the celebration by making people read books and be wiser.
Around 0.5 million worth books were brought in the fair and in the first day nearly 40,000 worth books were sold and most of them were faculty and students from the college, schools, local folks and also the guest who came to attend the event.
The team from Unique Books also shared that the first ever Book fair in country Bhutan was a good experience and would like to continue the same annually if given the opportunity. Apart from maximizing the profit they feel that reading helps in enhancing the knowledge and motivate to live their smartly and wisely.
