Jigme Namgyel Engineering College supported by UNICEF-Bhutan and IEEE Pre-University STEM Portal will start its 2nd Winter STEM Camp on 10th January 2023. It is a Grassroots STEM educational outreach programme and also part of university-to-school mentoring in reaching STEM access to rural youths. The program will cover 400+ students from nine schools in Samdrup Jongkhar Dzongkhag and one in Pemagatshel.
Through five days STEM Camp, participants will be able to realize the world of learning scopes that the STEM fields offer. Participants will be introduced to understanding and hands-on development of applications using Arduino microcontroller programming and STEMSEL runlinc E32W controller.
It is the initiative taken to encourage the enrollment of youths in the STEM fields. Further, it is in pursuit of creating platform for rural youths in expressing their creativity, and innovation and enhance their design thinking ability through hands-on learning. It is also in pursuit of UNICEF’s motto, “education for every child” with emphasis on empowering rural youths where 50 percent girl participation is mandatory from respective schools.
