Diploma in Civil Engineering in the college is two years full time programme which has been the most preferred programme by students across the country with highest intake annually. The programme aims to produce quality and innovative mid-level technical personnel imbued with positive interpersonal skills.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of the Diploma in Civil Engineering programme, the graduates of will be able to:
- Design, build, supervise, operate, and maintain construction projects and systems in the public and private sector, including roads, buildings, airports, dams, bridges, and systems for water supply and sewage treatment.

Aims of the programme
The broad intention of the Diploma programme in Electrical Engineering is to create a larger critical mass of qualified and competent Electrical Engineering Technicians who can support the implementation of plans and policies of the government to develop power and energy infrastructure and sustain their operation and maintenance needs. The Diploma in Electrical programme takes into consideration the general and the specific needs of the society, major user agencies and the upcoming industries.
The programme, in general, is designed to provide broad based knowledge and skills in electrical engineering. The graduates of such programme are expected to meet the requirement of technical manpower at technician and supervisory level in following employment sectors
- Generating power stations, distribution, transmission power companies, power project constructions and system operations.

Learning Outcomes
Working under the close supervision of a professional engineer, an Electrical Engineering diploma graduates will be able to:
- Interpret correctly the written and oral instructions of a professional engineer.
- Supervise the work of all personnel for whom the diploma electrical engineer is responsible.
- Communicate proficiently both in English and Dzongkha and prepare written technical reports.
- Identify the causes of various defects in Electrical Engineering related works and propose measures to rectify them.
- Prepare preliminary plans and designs, technical drawings and detailed cost estimates of electrical engineering works.
- Maintain all books of accounts related to Electrical works and make timely reports.

Aims of the programme
A drawing is a graphical representation of a real object. The purpose of the drawing is to define and specify the shape and size of a particular object by means of lines and other information about the object. A good drawing gives full information about the object in the shortest and simplest way.
This module will develop skills and knowledge to confidently use lines, letters and other drawing techniques in a technical drawing. They will be able to distinguish between the different types of projections, views, indicate the dimensions and tolerance of technical products, and change drawings according to specific requirements.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of the module, the students will be able to:
- Use common drafting tools to construct engineering drawing.
- Draw, read, and interpret the information from standard engineering drawing templates such as scales, revision block, and title.
- Use SI units and standard scale.
- Apply standard dimensioning conventions in engineering drawing.
- Produce multi view drawing of an object.
- Draw sectional views of objects.
- Perform the projections lying in different quadrants and orientation.
- Produce the projection of the solid such as pyramids, prisms, cylinders, cones, sphere etc.
- Develop the surface of a simple solids.
- Convert sketches into the standard engineering drawing.

Aims of the programme
The Diploma in Electronics and Communication Engineering aims to provide broad based knowledge and skills in the field of electronics and communication engineering. The programme is designed with special emphasis on hands-on skill development, and knowledge in modern electronics and communication technologies and their industrial applications. The programme will equip graduates with the technical competence required of engineers at the supervisory and technician levels to meet the needs of the communications and electronics industry such as in the communication and networking industries, manufacturing industries for instrumentation, automated systems in control and operations, and operation and maintenance of control room equipments and networks in hydro power. The programme provides a good balance of theory and practical skills to provide adequate
grounding in theory along with hands-on experience and skills. Students will engage in assembling electronic components/devices and their applications. Further, they will develop knowledge and skills in basic operation and control and data communication technologies involved in interfacing devices to enable them to visualize and actualize their applications in industries and relevant fields. In addition, students will also explore the interconnection between computing knowledge and communication, instrumentation and automation technologies.

On completion of the programme, graduates are expected to be able to:
- Acquire knowledge of scientific principles and methodology relevant to the study of electronics and communications engineering.
- Differentiate between Electronics and Communication Engineering and Electrical Engineering by differentiating between high voltage and low voltage.
- Apply mathematical methods and tools to evaluate engineering problems.
- Troubleshoot and repair faults in electronic, communications and power devices and systems.
- Operate and maintain different electronics components/devices.
- Perform interfacing of hardware and software to control and operate electronic devices.

Title of the award : Diploma in Surveying

Aims of the programme
The broad purpose of the Diploma in Surveying is to create a work force of capable middle-level surveying supervisors for sustaining the art and science of gathering, analysing and interpreting geographical information. They will need to be trained in surveying, land surveying, mapping, remote sensing, GIS and GNSS.
The knowledge gained in this programme will be relevant to the needs of modern industries such as conservation and resources management, cadastral and topological surveying, disaster management, planning and utility management, and the construction sector.
The programme will focus on the practice of professional surveying. The curriculum will integrate material from mathematics, physics, geography and surveying with the goal of producing diploma graduates capable of incorporating data from multiple sources into databases useful for land use management, and for the construction sector. The graduates of the programme are expected to use state of the art systems for surveying, specialized computer software, and advanced equipment and technologies, such as total stations, GIS and GNSS.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of a two year full time Diploma in Surveying, the graduates are expected to be able to:
- Interpret the written and oral instructions of a Professional Surveyor.
- Use surveying instruments such as levels (Dumpy, Abney, etc.), theodolites, total stations and Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS).
- Test surveying instruments to ascertain if they are in good working condition.
- Conduct and supervise detailed survey planning, topographic surveys, levelling surveys, cadastral surveys, construction surveys, triangulation surveys, GPS surveys and control surveys.
- Compute surveying data with necessary adjustments.
- Prepare maps manually and with CAD software.
- Identify and place permanent survey stations to specifications.
- Communicate proficiently in English and Dzongkha and prepare written technical reports.
- Familiarise students with national legislations such as Land Act and Local Government Act.
- Interpret and map remote sensing data and aerial images.

The two year full-time Diploma in Computer Hardware and Networking programme was introduced in July 2012 based on the needs and demands of ICT related study and facility in the country. The aim of the programme is to provide technical skills and expertise in the fast growing field of Computer Hardware and Network Technology.

On completion of the Diploma in Civil Engineering programme, the graduates of will be able to:

Aims of the programme
The general aims of the programme is to produce technically competent manpower who can assist managers in implementing the government’s policy related to procurement and materials management. The knowledge and skills of the programme is expected to manage physical resources effectively and efficiently to enable the organizations to maximize the value of money spent and also to manage day to day purchase in an organization to support the sustainable implementation of organizational goals by reducing the expenditure on raw materials as the components of the programme deals with scientific technique, concerned with planning, organizing and control of flow of materials, from their initial purchase to destination so that the right materials are procured at the right cost and used in the right environment.
