Jigme Namgyel Engineering College (JNEC) celebrates the 37th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the King and 43rd Foundation Day of the College.
On 21st Feb. students and staff of the college celebrated His Majesty the King’s Birthday with several activities. Also coinciding with His Majesty’s Birth Anniversary the college celebrated its foundation day on 22nd Feb.
The celebration was graced by Dasho Neten Zangmo, Executive Director of SJI (former Chairperson of the Anti-Corruption Commission of Bhutan) as the Guest of Honor accompanied by Mr. Kezang Chhodar, former Director of the college.
The day began with the offering of ‘Zhabten’ and cake by the guests, faculty, staff and the students, followed by cultural programme, Tug-o-War, Sack Race, Lucky Draw, Inauguration of the Open Short Film Competition (JNEC Media Club). In the afternoon, to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the King, the 3rd JNEC Open Football Tournament was also inaugurated. The inaugural match was played between JNEC college team and SJong United (Samdrup Jongkhar).
The celebration continued on second day which coincides with the 43rd College Foundation Day. A total of 11 graduates (2008 – 2013) joined the college to celebrate the Foundation Day of the Royal Bhutan Polytechnic/Royal Bhutan Institute of Technology/Jigme Namgyel Polytechnic/Jigme Namgyel Engineering College by playing a Friendly Archery Match with the JNEC Staff Team. The 11 graduates, who travelled as far as from Thimphu also donated a bronze ‘Jampelyang’ statue and a pair of Butter Lamps to the College.
