Machine Condition Monitoring Laboratory at Jigme Namgyel Engineering College (JNEC-RUB) was set up in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering under the project “Capacity Enhancement in Electrical Equipment Condition Monitoring and Fault Diagnostics” (CEEECoM) co-funded by Eramus+Programme of the European Union.
Some of the major experiment and practical that can be performed in the laboratory are:
- Vibration testing of rotating machines: Identifying imbalances, misalignments, and bearing failures.
- Insulation resistance testing of electrical machines: Ensuring the integrity and safety of electrical insulation.
- Partial discharge test of transformers: Detecting and analyzing electrical discharges within transformer insulation.
- Condition monitoring and checking of electrical machines: Monitoring various parameters to predict and prevent equipment failures.
With state-of-the-art equipment procured through the CEEECoM project funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, this lab provides a platform for research and learning. The hands-on experience will prepare students of Electrical and Power Engineering for real-world engineering challenges.
Some of the equipment available in the laboratory are:
- Fluke TiS75+Thermal Camera
- Fluke 810 vibration tester
- Digital high voltage insulation tester
- Fluke ii910 precision Acoustic imager
- Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)
