Jigme Namgyel Engineering College hosted a training on Construction Manager Software for Dzongkhag Engineers, conducted by Department of Engineering Services, MoWHS from 19th March – 13th April, 2018. A total of 45 Engineers were trained on how to use the Construction Manager Software, which was developed by MoWHS.
The Construction Manager Software is the first comprehensive attempt to rationalize and automate processes involved in the construction industry that would lead to a substantial reduction in time for rate analysis, estimating, bid preparation and, greatly increase accuracy. The software has been in existence for over 18 years and has undergone several cycles of improvement based on user feedbacks. It is basically used for Project planning (rate analysis, individual work estimate and project estimate, preparation of tender BoQ and market estimation for any location), Contract Administration (preparation of contractual payments: Running Account (RA) bills, price adjustment and advances) and Project Monitoring (time, cost and quality) to allow greater time for site supervision and quality control and to provide technical and management assistance.
The training was resourced by Mr. Namgyel Wangchuk, Executive Engineer and Mr. Krishna Kumar Khati, Engineer under Department of Engineering Services, MoWHS. Mr. Namgyel Wangchuk said that the training was conducted mainly to revive the Construction Manager Software and ultimately reach the common goal of establishing a competent and professional construction industry of Bhutan.
