On 26th October Vice-Rector and team from Bialystok University of Technology (BUT), Poland visited Jigme Namgyel Engineering College. The College aims to develop highly competent and innovative technical personnel infused with values of Gross National Happiness. Therefore to achieve the vision, the College develops active linkages with organizations and academic institution both within and outside the country.
Bialystok University of Technology is one of the University in Poland where JNEC have developed active linkages. Four officials from BUT who will be in Bhutan till 5th November, 2017 are Associate Professor Marta Kosior- Kazberuk, Vice-Rector, Associate Professor Zbigniew Kulesza, Ms. Katarzyna Kochaniak and Mr. Artur Mazur. They were in the college under the Erasmus + program for faculty and staff mobility program of Erasmus+ through the mutual agreement between JNEC and BUT since 2017.
During their stay in JNEC the team gave a lecture to second year students of Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Department, discuss on some of the areas where exchange programs can be enhanced and improved and some of the future collaborations and projects. Further the team made a visit to Office of Vice Chancellor to meet the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor and Director of Department of Research and External Relations.
As mentioned earlier, JNEC have established exchange programs for both student and faculty with BUT. Recently 4 students pursuing degree in Bachelors in Power Engineering have completed their fourth semester in BUT successfully and 2 faculty and 2 staff including President of the College also visited BUT in the month of May under the Erasmus+ Program. Furthermore a faculty from Department of Humanities and Management Department is pursuing Master’s Degree in BUT.
